Something between a bag and a keepsake, the Teal Bird Potli combines the structured base of a box bag with the soft drama of a drawstring top. A stylised bird in blush pink faces outward from the teal Lippan-art panel, a motif of freedom and good fortune woven into South Asian folk tradition for centuries.
The Craft
The lower panel of this bag is hand-crafted in Lippan Kaam, mirror work applied in layered geometric patterns to a clay and MDF base. The upper half is a gathered teal cotton potli, giving the bag its distinctive silhouette. The artisans in Kutch, Gujarat make the base panel separately before it is assembled with the fabric top. Each bird is painted by hand and no two are exactly alike.

Care
